Internology
During my internship with Internology, I contributed to research-driven public relations and communications projects focused on improving internship experiences for students and employers. My work included writing blog posts, developing LinkedIn content, assisting with campaign materials, and helping create executive summaries and reports based on national internship research.
Throughout the experience, I strengthened my skills in AP style writing, branding, strategic communication, and digital content creation while learning how research and storytelling work together in professional PR settings. Collaborating on projects that combined creativity with purpose gave me valuable hands-on experience and a deeper appreciation for communication that informs, engages, and creates impact.
Internology Personal Reflection
Internology is an innovative, forward-looking company focused on improving the future of internships. Its mission is to transform internships by educating and equipping employers, educators, and communities with the research, training, and tools needed to design equitable, structured, and scalable experiences. Internology primarily serves employers, educators, and communities by helping them strategically improve the internship experiences they offer. The organization uses data from a national survey to create customized strategies, provides one-on-one support, hosts workshops at universities to promote effective internship practices, and offers webinars. While competition is currently limited, similar organizations such as National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) operate in a related space.
During my internship, I accomplished a wide range of projects that strengthened my understanding of public relations in a professional setting. I wrote blog posts, developed a press release, completed an executive summary that is now available for download, and contributed to a full report that is available for purchase. Through this experience, I gained a clearer understanding of what a role in PR can look like in a real-world context. I also developed valuable skills in problem-solving, improved my ability to communicate quickly and clearly, and strengthened my teamwork abilities, especially while working closely with my second manager during the latter half of the internship.
Throughout my time at Internology, I built meaningful relationships with my supervisor, Christine, who was incredibly inspiring and supportive, as well as with my second manager, who was knowledgeable and helped me grow within the PR field. One aspect that stood out to me was Christine’s innovative approach and her vision for creating a company that can positively impact so many organizations. I was also deeply impacted by the level of trust placed in me, which encouraged me to take ownership of my work and strengthened my sense of accountability. Additionally, I was able to apply knowledge from my Public Relations Writing course (COMM 3245), particularly the templates and strategies provided in that class, which were especially helpful when creating blog posts and the press release.
